Sra. Martens and Drs. Rivera talked about some unique holiday traditions with their Spanish classes. The tradition of Tió Nadal (Christmas log) or Caga Tió (Pooping Log) is a strange tradition found in Cataluña, Spain. Starting Dec. 8th families place this cute magic log in their homes and give it food and water. On Dec. 25th they sing a special song and beat the log so that it leaves small gifts like candy and nuts.

BMS History Teacher Ron Bergman and his BMS Lego Club built a replica of the Battle of the Bulge (Dec. 16, 1944 - January 28, 1945) as a tribute to his grandfather and our serviceman. Each year, Bettendorf Community School District hosts a STEAM Expo. This is a free event for all Quad Cities students and their families to explore science and art in a fun, hands-on manner. Children will be able to travel from room to room as their interests dictate. This year’s STEAM Expo will be held at Bettendorf Middle School on Sat., March 2 from 11-2. The BHS Cultural Diversity Club visited the Hauberg Museum to learn about our indigenous heritage, ate an inspired indigenous meal at The Nest, and learned about local immigrant history at the German American Museum with Davenport North and MidCity High School students.
