Departments & Programs

Business & Financial Services - The Department of Finance and Business Services works with funding (sources such as local property tax, state and federal allocations in addition to grants and other revenue) and expenditures to support the operation of the Bettendorf Community School District, as well as future planning. The BCSD Finance and Business Services staff coordinate accounts payable/receivable, payroll/benefits, development/maintenance of district budgets, general ledger, audits, grant reporting, and other business office duties.

Communications - The Communications Department works closely with District staff, students and families to tell the District’s story. The department is dedicated to ensuring employees, parents, students and community members receive timely, relevant, and accurate information. Publications and promotion include websites, social media, Bett Pride Community Newsletter, Friday Bett District Update, Bett Staff Update, Virtual Backpack, District and emergency communication, and coordination with media.

Curriculum & Instruction - Curriculum & Instruction provides assistance, support and expertise in:

  • Delivering the district’s PK-12 instructional programs

  • Developing quality assessments that ensure rigor and consistency of instruction across subjects and grade levels

  • Collecting and reporting district data to improve instruction and to meet state requirements

  • Establishing staff development programs to help raise the level of instructional performance and student achievement

  • Selection of instructional materials, PK-12

Human Resources - The Department of Human Resources supports the recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff to support student learning and the education of our students and their families. The Bettendorf Community School District is always looking for talented and committed employees and guest staff.

Nutrition Services - Bettendorf School Nutrition Services staff work to make sure that nutritious and safe food is provided to the students and staff of Bettendorf public schools. All students at Bettendorf schools may purchase meals meeting federal nutrition standards through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, but families with incomes at or below 185 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free or reduced price meals.

Preschool - The state of Iowa provides funding for a Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program for 4-year-old children allowing students to receive preschool education at no charge for 10 hours per week.

The Bettendorf Community School District program offers priority placement to families that meet the free and reduced criteria. Children who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will be placed in the program if space allows. The program is also offered through private providers without the free and reduced priority. Click on the link above to learn more.

Student Services - The Student Services Department takes pride in offering extensive support services to meet the needs of all learners. Student services oversees English as a Second Language, Extended Learning Program (ELP)Special Education, Section 504 (student accommodations), and preschool programs.

Technology - The district’s vision is to leverage technology to provide challenging and stimulating learning opportunities for Bettendorf Community School District students. We believe seamless integration and equitable access to the most up-to-date tools and applications in the teaching and learning process will benefit our students by equipping them with the knowledge and skills that will promote the development of well-rounded students who have the ability to reason and act in an ethical manner so they can make a living, make a life, and make a difference.

The 1:1 initiative for student devices has been fully implemented since the Fall of 2019 at the High School and Middle School levels with all students having access to technology 24:7 throughout the school year through a district-provided Chromebook. At the elementary level, Bettendorf Schools have increased their previous "one device to every two students" within the classroom in grades two through five to "1:1 student devices within the classroom" through a district-provided Chromebook.  Preschool through first grade students are provided access to iPads in each of the classrooms with a 1:1 ratio.

The district’s Technology Department is made up of eight individuals with the mission of supporting teaching and learning. The technology team supports all district staff and students, nine buildings, over 5,000 Chromebooks, 1300 iPads, 1,600 computers and dozens of software systems.

For technology support needs please email helpdesk@bettendorf.k12.ia.us or talk to your teacher or building librarian for technology assistance.
