  • Don't miss out on your last chance to save lives this school year! Our final Blood Drive of the 25-26 school year is May 12th! All students age 16 and older are invited to donate! We need 70 more donors to fill our blood drive. Remember - each time you donate you could be helping up to 3 patients that need blood supplies!  If you are 16 years old you need a permission slip every time you donate - stop by the Career Center to grab one today!   • Hey seniors! We want your photos to display at prom! Use this link to upload pictures of you and your friends at school events. You will see them on display at prom! 

  • The Humpback Whale is the champ of 2026 March Mammal Madness, which means Ava Brockman is our BHS winner with a total of 119 points. In second place is Isaac McDermott with 116 points and in third, Atalissa Bloyd with 115 points. These are the highest point totals since BHS has participated in March Mammal Madness. Check out the final standings and BHS leaderboard here.

  • Hey Juniors! Are you looking for a paid internship for your senior year? This may be the one for you! The Career Readiness Internship is a paid opportunity for two senior students to gain hands-on experience supporting the Career Center during one class block each quarter, all school year long. Interns will help promote events, create social media content, design flyers, and develop videos that encourage student engagement in career readiness activities. This role is ideal for outgoing, independent students who are creative, reliable, and interested in building real-world communication and professional skills. Pay close attention to deadlines; this is a quick turnaround process. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Hoyt. 

  • Last call for Juniors interested in taking the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) college class next year! This class is offered through EICC and awards 9.5 college credits. Students who successfully complete the course will be nationally registered EMTs! See Mrs. Hoyt if interested! 

  • Did you know that Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) offers free college classes to high school students during summer break? You must be a 9th, 10th, or 11th grader to enroll in the classes offered and meet any necessary requirements to enroll. Check out the list below, and if you are interested in a summer class, email Mrs. Hoyt! Spots will fill up fast - act now!
